A forest fire has damaged two archeological sites in the valley between the Peruvian city of Cuzco and the ancient Incan fortress of Machu Picchu, Peru’s national institute of culture said on Wednesday.

Inca’s civilisation is one of the oldest in the world and it should be preserved in any cost,the reason may be ”Farmers in the area, which contains dozens of ancient ruins, often set fires to help clear land”

They survived many centuries only to be burned down by humanity today who has ironically the best means to preserve them. When we destroy parts of history, we destroy parts of ourselves. This is shameful. The forest fires are most certainly man made.
