Will the insurance companies deny insurance to soldiers returning from war because they may develop PTSD? How about people who have survived fires or serious car accidents? Who else is already being denied?

This is a heartbreaking and infuriating story. I am not surprised that insurers are denying coverage to victims of rape or assault, and asking invasive and probing questions. Insurers cannot be profitable if they do not do everything they can to avoid payment on claims. The comment here about PTSD from rape/assault being no different than PTSD from warfare is a good point. However, it does need to be said that victims of warfare (generally speaking, combat soldiers) have the VA for their health care. It is a complete waste of taxpayer dollars along mental health lines. My father, a physician and a veteran, has never used the VA for any type of medical care.

That's the same reason viagra is covered and contraceptives are not. Women are still second class citizens.

Probably, establishing the Crime Victim Health Emergency State Fund would be handy in such cases-why should bin Ladin & et be only spent money on?
